Some people are born to teach. After practicing with Tara for more than 10 years I have learned, she is one of those people. Her classes are thoughtful and  well organized. The class sequences are designed to move deeper into a familiar pose by practicing  many variations of the pose or to explore new poses. Her background in choreography is evident in the graceful transition from pose to pose. Her attention to the individual is never lost and if one’s energy is low or someone has an injury or impairment, she can quickly determine a safe way of accessing each pose or offering an alternative, even as the class continues without disruption. If correction is needed, it is offered with a firm gentle hand, compassionately, and with encouragement. Giving a hands on memory of where each pose can lead. When Tara returned from studying at the Iyengar Institute in India her knowledge had broadened , but also her intention and dedication to sharing the benefits of Iyengar Yoga were clarified. I am thrilled to be able to practice with Tara at the UYS. At the end of each class Tara asks that we reflect on that days practice and the effect on our mind and body. My body enlivened, my mind alert and calm, my spirit lifted I am filled with gratitude to have Tara as my teacher.
